Family Christmas 2012

All I want for Christmas is… More time with my Wonderful Family! After spending three short days with my Seven Siblings, Mom and Dad and one Fabulous Sis-in-Law, it was a little hard to leave them. The Holidays are always a time to embrace and be thankful for our loved ones.

Here are some of the Pictures from my Trip:

All I want for Christmas is…

Arrived at my parents house outside Mobile Alabama last night. Even though I am sick, sick, sick, I am still very happy to be spending the Holidays with my lovely family! My mother has made it her mission to make sure that I am feeling better STAT! I must say, there is nothing better than being babied by your Momma when you are sick. Momma’s Meds and Pinterest… what more do I need?

This morning, I am drinking Starbucks Christmas blend with french vanilla creamer and catching up on my blog reading (including: GlitterPearls, Cupcakes and Cashmere and Style on the Couch).

I am also thinking about how good I have been this past year (relatively speaking) and how much I deserve a LOT of Sparkle, Sparkle, Shine, Shine for Christmas this year!!

Here are a few items on my I-Have-Been-Super-Good-And-I-Deserve-This Christmas Wish List:

Blustery Saturday Inspiration

My life has been a WHIRLWIND recently! The past few weeks have been a barrage of social activities, packing my house, getting ready to move…. and everything that comes with several big changes in my life! I am moving from Georgia back to Florida. It’s an exciting yet crazy busy time!! Needless to say, my lovely blog has been neglected a bit. I am still finding inspiration in the world around me, just not as much at the moment to share it with all of you. However, on this chilly Saturday morning, I will pass along a few nuggets.

Enjoy!!

Have a Wonderful Christmas Season Lovelies!!!! xxoo Jamie

Christmas Morning…

Today was the first time in all of my thirty years that I have been alone on Christmas morning. Completely alone. Surrounded by silence… with time to sleep in and think.

My Daughter is with her Daddy till noon, then we head to the white sandy beaches of Pensacola Beach Florida for vacation with my family. (So don’t feel TOO sorry for me!) By this evening, I will be surrounded by extended family, tons of food and drink and more presents than I really need.

Being alone has given me some time to really think about what the Holidays mean to me. Of course its the birth of Jesus, we all know that. But Christmas has become such a stressful time for me that I tend to forget the true meaning. I have been so caught up in work and social events. I feel constantly busy or exhausted or a combination of BOTH! When I do have a free minute to put my feet up, my brain is still going a thousand miles an hour… “I need a present for so-and-so. Need to wrap those other presents. Did I get enough gift bags? Am I forgetting anything…” Even in the silence, inside my head is as loud as a High School marching band practice. I miss my childhood Christmas memories. Being EXCITED about Christmas! Counting down the days starting December 1st. Shaking each wrapped present and trying to guess what it was. Sleeping next to the glowing tree on Christmas Eve. Being told by my parents at 4:30am that it was still “TOO EARLY” to open presents. Sigh. I miss those days.

As adults, we tend to lose the excitement and wonder of the holidays. Today, as I drive the 4.5 hours to my family’s house, I will try to re-capture that feeling I had as a child. We must never forget to stop and view the world through a child’s eyes now and then…

Top Five Christmas Songs

I adore Christmas music… the week before Christmas, in moderation. There are a few songs that have touched me over the years and make me cry every time! Here are my top five Christmas songs… in no particular order:

1. “Here with Us” by Joy Williams – My Sister-in-Law sang this at the Christmas Eve service last year and it brought tears to my eyes. It is beautiful.

2. “Where are You Christmas?” by Faith Hill. The best part of the Grinch movie, in my opinion…

3. “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby. It is a tradition in my family to watch White Christmas every Christmas. I get choked up hearing Bing’s voice every time. Living in the south makes me long for snow and cold. Just for one day!

4. Silent Night. Classic. Beautiful. Heartwarming.

5. “Christmas Shoes” by Newsong. This song reminds me of the spirit of giving in Christmas. Most of the time I am so caught up in myself and my loved ones during the Holidays that I forget that people are struggling to survive all around me. This Christmas I am looking outside my little comfort zone and finding ways to give to others. There is always someone less fortunate who needs a little Christmas cheer.

Top Five (Christmas Themed)

I know its Tuesday. I know I am a day late with my Top Five. I figured, What the Heck, I haven’t written a Top Five in months… so technically I am months and a day late. Some say “Better late than never”…

1. Countdown till Christmas! We are now at T-minus 25 days. I must confess that I haven’t even begun Christmas shopping yet. I am more of a Christmas-Eve-Grab-Whatever-Is-Left Shopper. This comes from my long standing procrastination habit. If you’re lucky enough to get a gift from me at all… it will most likely be a gift card… from whatever store is the least crowded and has the shortest checkout line.

2. Decorating for Christmas – My Office. That was enough. I officially retire from decorating now.

3. Christmas Music!! I adore Christmas music. I pace myself though as I do not want to overwhelm myself with this pleasure and therefore get annoyed before Christmas Day. A jingle here… a jangle there. I’m good.

4. Amazon.com Wishlist. Genius! Brilliant! Ah-Mazing! My entire family (all eight brothers and sisters scattered across the country) uses Amazon.com wishlists to control the mayhem of Christmas shopping. Try stuffing the entire collection of J.R.R. Tolkien’s written work into a suitcase on Christmas Eve! Never going to happen! Thank you Amazon.com for saving Christmas at the Collyer’s house.

5. Spending more time with Family and Friends! I cannot wait to see brothers and sisters that I have not seen since LAST Christmas! I have such an Ah-Mazing family!

6. Cold Weather Attire – BRING ON THE SCARVES AND SWEATERS!!!!!
