Top Five – March 29th

In this Final week of March, here are a few things I am LOVIN’:

1. Short Shorts! Nothing screams spring like showing a little skin. Here in the south, we rarely have to wear coats in the winter. Sweaters and jeans are usually a necessity though (scarves too, on occasion). Its wonderful to be able to dust off the shorts on March 20th (official beginning of Spring) or hopefully prior to that! Who cares about that No-White-Before-Memorial-Day rule!! Or is it No-White-After-Labor-Day…. I can never remember. My White shorts are COMING OUT BABY!!

Check out these White Shorts by Old Navy for only $19.50!!

2. My New Dollhouse Tan and Brown Heels (acquired at a thrift store for $4.00) Super Comfy and Stylish…. if I could, I would wear them every day this week!!!

3. Basso & Brooke Spring 2011 RTW Collection - I cannot stop drooling. Wildly printed, yet extremely feminine dresses that are PERFECT for Spring! My full review of the collection will be posted later this week…stay tuned!

4. Fresh Grapefruit - Tis the season for Grapefruit here in the south. So sweet and delicious! Yummy Delicious! My Mother brought me an entire bag from the tree in her back yard… I cannot wait to dig in!

Here is a recipe for a Mango, Orange, Grapefruit, Avocado and Pistachio Salad that I cannot wait to try!

5. Bringing Up Baby - One of my favorite movies! Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant … and a leopard!! It is a MUST SEE!

Rainy Days – Top Five

Spring is finally here, and with it comes the rain! April showers bring May Flowers…. or something like that! I find it hard to look my best when I am soaked like a drowned rat. Here are a few ways to stay dry during the drizzly months:

1. Buy an Ah-Mazing Umbrella! Then carry it with you always… it doesn’t work if you leave it at home!

2. Invest in Waterproof Mascara. There is nothing attractive about showing up at the office looking like a drowned racoon!

3. Rainboots! Wonderful for sloshing through all of those puddles. Pack your Louboutins in your Prada purse and you’re all set to slosh! (Check out the great selection at shoprainco.com)

4. Rain Jacket – because what is the point of cutsie rainboots without a rain jacket to go with them?!?!?! (I recommend Rainforest ruched coat from Neiman Marcus)

5. Singin’ in the Rain! OK, so its not a way to stay dry but it is one of my favorite movies! Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds… what’s not to love? If you happen to be trapped indoors because of the dreary weather, this movie will put a smile on your face in no time!

Top Five-March 8th

Here is my Top five for this Second week in March:

1. Store Bought Sushi!! Don’t get me wrong, I really love the restaurant kind of Sushi, but when my boyfriend brings me Sushi from Publix I am in heaven!!!!!!!! Simply Divine!

2. Reading Plays – I read a LOT of scripts in College and I am just getting back to my love of Theater! I’ve been dusting off my Theater books and curling up with them! Shakespeare, O’Neill, Shaw, Miller…..

3. Vintage Clothing – Inspired by John Galliano’s Fall 2011 Line .

4. Wonderful Friendships! My friends and Family are my lifeline!! I am so grateful to have so many people that love and support me unconditionally!

5. Last but not least…. New York Magazine! I am simply addicted! Best thing that comes in my mail box besides Netflix!

Top Five – New Thursday Tradition

I have the best of intentions to write my Top Five for the week on Monday (Better yet, on Sunday Night!!) Yet somehow it seems to be becoming a Thursday tradition (because that is about the time in the week that I remember it!)

Here are my Top Five for this Week:

1. Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Nail Polish in Lively Lilac – Such a fun color for Spring! Wear alone or under OPI Black Shatter Nail Polish for a cool, funky look! I currently have both on my Toes!

2. Peanut Butter & Co. White Chocolate Wonderful – This Super Healthy Peanut Butter is a little taste of Heaven! From New York City, this creamy spread is: “More than just a sandwich spread, it is fantastic on fruit, spooned over ice cream, when used as an ingredient in baked goods, or simply eaten out of the jar! It contains no cholesterol, no trans fats, no hydrogenated oils, and no high-fructose corn syrup. It is also gluten-free, certified vegan, and certified kosher pareve by the Orthodox Union.” (From www.Ilovepeanutbutter.com)

I cannot get enough of it! I am eating it on Granny Smith apples and whole grain toast! Yummy!!

3. St. Ives Renewing Collagen Elastin Body Moisturizer Lotion – I keep this on my desk at the Office and use it almost hourly! I love the way it keeps my hands soft and smooth! I even massage my elbows with it for a mini spa-like treatment!

4. Glee (Season One) – Thanks to Netflix, I’ve been enjoying this Ah-Mazing Show all over again! Love it!!!! Welcome Back Thursday Night Movie Night (another one of my silly traditions).

5. Casual Friday! Friday is Jeans Day at the office! I look forward to the relaxed look after dressing Business Casual all week!

Here are great ideas for looking casual yet polished (Thanks to Polyvore.com):

Top Five for this Week

I cannot believe that February is almost DONE… and that this work week is over halfway done as well! Time is Flying By!!

Here are my Top Five for this week:

1. RenPure Organics Shampoo & Conditioner – I Love the way these products make my hair feel: Soft and Smooth! They smell Ah-Mazing too!!

2. Shiva Rea Daily Energy – Vinyasa Flow Yoga

3. Positive Attitudes! Sometimes its hard to smile in the face of adversity, but at the end of the day, I’d rather be smiling than frowning!

4. Maybelline Volum’ Express One By One Mascara – Normally I am a Volum’ Express The Falsies FANATIC, however, I couldn’t resist the Buy One Get One 1/2 off sale… and decided to try something new! This mascara plumped up my skimpy lashes without clumping or globbing! I LOVE it!!

5. Naked Juices - Energizing, All Natural and Refreshing… What’s NOT to Love?!?! I am slightly addicted! My Favorites: Blue Machine and Berry Veggie!

Top Five Fabulous RedHeads

I am on a Top Five kick right now (blame it on the fact that I watched High Fidelity recently!) and I keep having Top Five lists pop into my head at random times, like tonight.

It is a common fact that I enjoy being a Fabulous Redhead! I like to embrace my vibrant personality and can almost always “blame” it on my hair color!

Here are a few of my Favorite Fabulous Sassilicious Redheads:

1. Lucille Ball - What’s not to LOVE about her?!?!? She was witty, smart, sassy, hilarious and able to make people laugh at her mistakes!

** “How I Love Lucy was born? We decided that instead of divorce lawyers profiting from our mistakes, we’d profit from them.” L.B.

** “I have an everyday religion that works for me. Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line.” L.B.

** “I’d rather regret the things I’ve done than regret the things I haven’t done.” L.B.

2. Debra Messing – I love her for the same reasons that I love Lucille! Hilarious… and Sassy! That is one of those unique qualities about us redheads. We can be funny and smart AND gorgeous all at the same time. Blondes and Brunettes can also be ALL of these things too…. It’s just that Redheads are quirky too!

** ” I’m a little commitment phobic, in that I’ve always been someone who likes to take things one year at a time because as we all know, a year can change everything in your life.” D.M.

** ” When you’re passionate about something, you want it to be all it can be. But in the endgame of life, I fundamentally believe the key to happiness is letting go of that idea of perfection.” D.M.

3. Pippi Longstocking – Ok, so she is a fictional character made up by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren but this girl has SPUNK! She was the girl I wanted to BE when I grew up! She had a monkey and a horse and wore the Craziest of Socks! There was NO adventure that Pippi couldn’t tackle!

** “‘I am a Thing-Finder, and when you’re a Thing-Finder, you don’t have a minute to spare.”‘ P.L.

4. Conan O’Brien – I have the Biggest Crush on Conan (Don’t tell his wife!) His sense of humor is exactly what I am looking for in a guy – smart, dry and sarcastic. He is the only guy I can think of that makes a Comb-Over look sexy!

** “A study in the Washington Post says that women have better verbal skills than men. I just want to say to the authors of that study: “Duh.”” C.O’Brien

**“In Cleveland there is legislation moving forward to ban people from wearing pants that fit too low. However, there is lots of opposition from the plumber’ union.” C. O’Brien

5. It’s a Tie: Kate Walsh and Amy Adams – Gorgeous, Smart, Independent Redheads that I cannot get enough of! These are my Icons in the world of Sassy Redheads! I can’t even explain it…. Just love them to pieces!

** “These days, knitting and crocheting clothing, accessories and home decor items is as much a sanity saver or a social outlet as they are a creative effort.” K.W.

New Years Resolutions…

Every New Years Eve (or somewhere around that time) I feel compelled to make a list of New Years resolutions. Pretty much for the last ten years my list has looked something like this:

1. Lose 10 pounds
2. Save more money
3. Find true love
4. Become a writer
5. Move to NYC
6. Finish my Novel
7. Be happy
8. Etc…etc….etc…..

This year I have decided to only resolve to do FIVE things. In narrowing my list, I plan to concentrate on fewer things and therefore accomplish them! So here are my resolutions:

1. Run a 10k. (This was on my Top Ten list for 2010 and I never even came close. However, it is something I have wanted to do for years, so it will be on my Top Five for 2011!)

2. Write four blog posts a week. (Not too many, not too few…. enough to establish the habit of continually writing. In 2011, I aim to have many more in-depth Fashion and Beauty posts with the latest trends and styles etc.)

3. Visit New York City (Again, on my 2010 list….) It has been my childhood dream since I was 8.

4. Take a vacation with my Daughter. She turns three in April and I want to build lasting memories with her! I am hoping to take her back to Seattle!!

5. Become Debt Free! I don’t have a lot of debt, but I would like to learn to live by a budget and eliminate it completely! I think it is important to be financially savvy in order to accomplish one’s goals. My father is my greatest influence on Saving, Investing and Budgeting. I think I may be consulting him ALOT!

Top Five (Christmas Themed)

I know its Tuesday. I know I am a day late with my Top Five. I figured, What the Heck, I haven’t written a Top Five in months… so technically I am months and a day late. Some say “Better late than never”…

1. Countdown till Christmas! We are now at T-minus 25 days. I must confess that I haven’t even begun Christmas shopping yet. I am more of a Christmas-Eve-Grab-Whatever-Is-Left Shopper. This comes from my long standing procrastination habit. If you’re lucky enough to get a gift from me at all… it will most likely be a gift card… from whatever store is the least crowded and has the shortest checkout line.

2. Decorating for Christmas – My Office. That was enough. I officially retire from decorating now.

3. Christmas Music!! I adore Christmas music. I pace myself though as I do not want to overwhelm myself with this pleasure and therefore get annoyed before Christmas Day. A jingle here… a jangle there. I’m good.

4. Amazon.com Wishlist. Genius! Brilliant! Ah-Mazing! My entire family (all eight brothers and sisters scattered across the country) uses Amazon.com wishlists to control the mayhem of Christmas shopping. Try stuffing the entire collection of J.R.R. Tolkien’s written work into a suitcase on Christmas Eve! Never going to happen! Thank you Amazon.com for saving Christmas at the Collyer’s house.

5. Spending more time with Family and Friends! I cannot wait to see brothers and sisters that I have not seen since LAST Christmas! I have such an Ah-Mazing family!

6. Cold Weather Attire – BRING ON THE SCARVES AND SWEATERS!!!!!

Top Five Monday List (07-12-10)

Ok, so its been a few weeks since I have posted my Top Five. There are several reasons for this… mostly, super busy in my regular life!! Lots of Changes, most of them really Great!! Here is my Top Five for this Fabulous Week:

1.  Royal Pains….. on USA…. Makes for a Wonderful Thursday Evening!!

2. Writing. Its therapeutic, enjoyable, zen, relaxing, uplifting…. etc, etc, etc…. Whether its poetry, journaling or blogging, it is such an outlet for me! Some of my writing will never be read by the public eye, but I write everything that is on my heart. Someday I might need to have a burn party for all of that paper!!

3.  First Kisses…. Need I say more?

4.  Kim Kardashian’s Blog: http://kimkardashian.celebuzz.com/blog/  I cannot get enough of this girl. She is Fabulous, Interesting and Funny. Reading it is one of my guilty pleasure :)

5.  Yoga… the more I practice, the better of a person I become!! Practice makes Perfect!!!
