Friendly Weekend

Sometimes there is nothing like laughter with a good friend to rejuvenate a person’s soul. One of my dearest friends flew in from Missouri this weekend to see me. We have both changed so much over the past seven years, but deep down we are still the same creative, thoughtful, funny, outrageous gals that met while performing in Fiddler on the Roof so many summers ago. I love and cherish my friend Angi. Without her I might not be where I am today. She has always been my shoulder to cry on, my inspiration and my source of laughter. Cheers to broken wine glasses and concerts in Chicago!

At the Bistro (Piano Bar)

Life can be wildly tragic at times, and I’ve had my share. But whatever happens to you, you have to keep a slightly comic attitude. In the final analysis, you have got to not forget to laugh.

Also, here is a picture of me being an “Irish Princess” on St. Patty’s Day:

St. Pattys Day

St. Patricks Day is one of my favorite holidays ever! Being a natural red-head, I tend to gravitate toward anything that celebrates the Irish! I look great in green and who needs an excuse to eat corned beef and cabbage (recipe HERE)!?!?!

Also on the agenda:
*Celtic Music
*Wearing a Shamrock
*Green Beer
*Eating Lucky Charms
*Spending time with other lovely Gingers….

In honor of this glorious day, I’ve painted my tootsies green:

Spring is Arriving

Spring is starting to arrive here in South Georgia. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and the temperature is in the 80′s. I love it! I want to shop for sundresses and strappy sandals. Just looking at the Victoria’s Secret Summer Catalog makes me drool!!

Here are the little flowers I spotted on my porch…. sweet reminders of springtime!

Second Hand Furniture

Decorating on a Budget isn’t Impossible.

All you need is cheap (thrift store, second-hand or give away) furniture and splashes of personal touches! I happen to prefer pages from my favorite Magazines and photos/memorabilia of my Loved Ones.

My Mother is Ah-Mazing at finding bargains! She recently brought me several pieces of furniture that I immediately adopted into my home. These pieces remind me constantly of my family, which I LOVE because they live five hours away!

Hutch that has been in my family for as long as I can remember! (My Grandmother would be proud.)

Bookshelves from My Momma’s house:

Awesome Chest of Drawers! (Which my Mother bought from a friend who was moving for only $20.00!!!)

Finally, my closet door… which inspires me every morning while I pick out clothes for the day.

Dreaded Yard Work

Today I got down and dirty…. in the yard that is.

I have been saying that I need to pull the weeds in the front of my house and plant bushes for… oh…. about four months now. It was always too cold or rainy or Way-To-Nice-Outside-To-Be-Doing-Yardwork! I attacked those weeds with a shovel, a rake and my blood, sweat and tears. (Ok, that might be a SLIGHT exaggeration!) I am so proud of myself! I feel like a regular Susie Green Thumb! Now I just hope that my little baby Charlie-Brown-Christmas-Tree bushes grow up to be big and lush bushes!

Next Project: FLOWERS!

Power Women (My Current Heroines)

Everyone has a Hero (or Heroine). A person (or persons) they look up to, admire, and respect. Whether this Hero is living presently or not, we all have at least one person! I happen to have several women in this category that I view as “Power Women”. These women have talent, drive and the determination to overcome sometimes overwhelming obstacles. I admire each one for different reasons (listed below).

Hopefully this list will be an inspiration to you as well…

** Rachel Zoe - Fashion Stylist. She lives and breathes Fashion. Her book has been such an Inspiration to me! “Be Glamorous, Every Day!”

**Gulianna Rancic - Media Goddess! Is there anything She doesn’t do? TV host, Red Carpet Queen, Fit Fab Female, Marathoner….. She is open and honest about her marriage, baby issues and every day life. We LOVE her!!

** Victoria Beckham - Style Icon and Mother. Designer, Wife, Mommy, Singer, Fashionista.

** Ellie Lawson - All-Time Favorite Female Musician. Her music is Amazing!! Ambassador for Quicksilver and completely down-to-earth!

PS: I probably read Style A to Zoe and That Extra Half an Inch once a month each!!

When Life Gives You Lemons…

I am on a Lemon Kick right now…. Since my Master Cleanse in January I have been craving fresh squeezed lemon juice in my water every day. Knowing that Lemon Juice has many healthy benefits, I decided to do a little research and find other uses for Lemons. I was amazed at the MANY incredible benefits I found!

Here are a few of those benefits:

1. Lemon Juice clears out blackheads! Rub lemon juice on areas with blackheads each night before bed. In the morning, rinse with cool water. The citric acid in the juice helps to dissolve the blackheads, so keep applying the juice nightly until they disappear. Lemon Juice is also great for healthy hair. Use on the ends for dryness or on the scalp to get rid of dandruff.

2. Lemon Juice helps to flush toxins out of the body. Toxins can cause us to become tired, sick, have dull skin, and many other illnesses. Flushing with Lemon water can help to eliminate the toxins from our bodies.

3.Lemon Juice is great for the digestive system! It helps to relieve symptoms of nausea, bloating, belching and constipation. It is also thought to dissolve gallstones and aid it weight loss! (Count me in!!)

4. Lemon juice also helps to boost the immune system and fight off diseases. Lemons contain flavonoid, which is composed of antioxidants and anti-cancer properties. Drinking Lemon Juice daily will assist in becoming a healthy, whole person.

When Life gives you Lemons… Use them to become a Healthy & Fabulous Person!!!

Tired and Groggy

There are mornings that I wake up with my head in a fog. It doesn’t matter how many hours of sleep I had the night before, I still feel like an elephant is sitting on top of me preventing me from standing up. I promise myself TONS of coffee and somehow find the willpower to make it into the shower. Today was one of those mornings.

I blame it on the weather…. foggy, drizzly, down-right yucky.

Things I need right now:

1. Starbucks Venti Soy Latte - need I say more!

2. Clinique Happy Perfume - the heavenly aroma wakes me right up AND makes me smile. Seriously! Happy for Men is even better!

3. Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss Red Delicous – because every girl needs a little Sparkle, Sparkle, Shine, Shine in her life…. especially on mornings like this!

Happy Groundhogs Day! I truly hope that it doesn’t repeat itself!

Day Eight (Master Cleanse Finale)

I decided on the evening of Day Seven that I would come off my “cleanse” the next morning. I was getting too grouchy! Without work as a distraction, I didn’t want to be snappy with my daughter all weekend. I think it was a pretty wise choice.

The Grapefruit I ate the next morning tasted like Heaven. I would definitely try the Master Cleanse again… when my schedule is a little less crazy! Cheers to the 10 pounds that I did loose and the new-found appreciation that I have for healthy living/eating.
